N'western, Thorpe both earn sweeps

The Northwestern and Jim Thorpe track teams both picked up wins yesterday. In the Tigers' Colonial League match up with Catasauqua, they earned wins in both boys and girls competitions. The Olympians also earned a victory in sweeping Minersville in a non-league meet.

Catasauqua-NorthwesternThe Northwestern track team continued their impressive season with convincing wins over Catasauqua on Tuesday.The Lady Tigers defeated the Roughies 136-14.Trista Cunningham took home first place in three events. Cunningham won the long jump, triple jump, and discus. Sarah Segan won both the 200 and 400, while Alexis Gawelko came away with wins in the 300 IH and high jump.The Tigers boys squad also had a dominating win, with a 117-33 victory.Cam Richardson ran well for Northwestern, taking first in the 200 and 400.
