Schuylkill woman charged in crash that injured children

A Schuylkill County woman has been charged in connection with a head-on crash that occurred last year in which two of her children were seriously injured.

State police at Schuylkill Haven has charged Nicole Marie Moore, 28, of Minersville, with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence (DUI); DUI of a controlled substance; DUI - general impairment; endangering the welfare of children; recklessly endangering another person; careless driving; reckless driving; and several traffic citations.The crash occurred about 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2013, along SR901, near Red Horse Road, in North Manheim Township.Moore was operating a 2006 Hyundai Sonata westbound when, for unknown reasons, she traveled into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2010 Kia Soul operated by Debra Skripko, 54, of Llewellyn.Two female juvenile passengers with Moore, ages six years and five months, were flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with serious injuries.Moore and Skripko sustained moderate injuries and were taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, where they were treated and released. Another juvenile with Moore, a three-year-old male, was not injured. All three juveniles were in the back seat, troopers noted.At the time of the crash troopers said Moore showed signs of impairment and submitted to a blood test. Troopers said on Nov. 2, 2013, they received the blood test results. The blood results from a drug toxicology was returned positive.The charges were filed Monday with District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg.
