A New Hampshire native has been hired as Tamaqua's new borough manager, borough solicitor Sparks Reese announced at a news conference this morning in the Tamaqua Municipal Building.

The new manager, Gardner R. Benson, who will leave a position as town manager of Goffstown, N.H., will succeed Marvin Milam and will start his new duties on April 21.Benson made his second trip to Tamaqua to be present for a meeting of the Tamaqua Borough Council last night when his selection to the post at a salary of $11,000 a year was made final.
