A student at the Schuylkill Intermediate School 29, located at 17 Maple Ave., in the village of Mar Lin, Norwegian Township, is facing assault charges.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 16-year-old male student assaulted another 16-year-old male student in the cafeteria at the school. The victim sustained facial injuries that required medical treatment. The incident occurred at 12:10 p.m. on April 2.The suspect has been charged with aggravated and simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. The charges were filed with the county's juvenile probation office.
