A Schuylkill County driver died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning.

State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the victim as Joseph M. Jones, 21, of Pine Grove.Troopers said the crash occurred about 12:50 a.m. as Jones was operating a 1992 Buick 3800 eastbound on Birds Hill Road in Pine Grove Township.Jones, for unknown reasons, swerved in the eastbound lane and his vehicle began to slide sideways traveling east. The car slid off the road and struck a tree with the driver's side door, where it came to rest.Rescue personnel extricated Jones from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
