An icy patch of road in Schuylkill County caused a one-vehicle crash about 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
State police at Frackville said Richard A. Cusatis, 27, of Hazleton, was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Brandonville Road, east of Hollow Road in Union Township, and negotiating a left curve. The vehicle traveled over a patch of ice causing Cusatis to lose control. The Jeep spun 190 degrees counter-clockwise and slid across the eastbound lane and onto the berm. The right rear of the Jeep struck and knocked down two mailboxes. The Jeep then struck a utility pole with the right rear area, flipped over, and came to rest in the eastbound lane on its left side.Cusatis was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The Jeep had to be towed from the scene.
