Legislators get raises, but still waiting for property tax reform

Dear Editor,

I'm seeking explanations for the following: How is it that our state legislature can get a bill passed so quickly that raises the state's gas tax by 30 cents over the next two years, yet we are still waiting for a property tax bill to be passed?School taxes are out of control, having risen in local communities. No shortage of raises either.School boards and the NEA should get a grip on reality. Much to their surprise, they might see that automatic yearly increases are NOT the norm. This leads to my second explanation request. In Jim Thorpe, I see they gave the newly hired school director a $6,000 raise before he has even worked one day at his new position. Now if he truly deserves it, have they not been underpaying the retiring school director?Well why not, it's only the homeowners' money, and we all know we have a ton of it. Vote them all out.Michael EckhartJim Thorpe
