Pennsylvania seeks help to get $10,000 sponsorship for 4-H

Want to help Pennsylvania 4-H programs win a $10,000 STEM sponsorship?

According to the National 4-H Council, HughesNet, a national provider in broadband satellite equipment, is joining the council to try to inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology engineering and mathematics, by hosting a $10,000 science sponsorship for the state with the highest participation rates. The campaign also aims "to help identify 4-H alumni and encourage their support for initiatives across the country."Pennsylvania, which is currently in the lead, needs your help and is asking that 4-H leaders, members, alumni and volunteers "raise their hand" for the state. Other states in the top five include Vermont, Nebraska, Alaska and South Carolina.To support Pennsylvania, visit

Votes will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on May 1.The winning state will receive the money to put toward 4-H camp to support a "tech takeover day." The day will include one full day of STEM activities.Votes are counted based on the highest amount of raised hands per capita of 4-H participants, the contest rules state.The 4-H program is the nation's largest youth development organization, reaching more than 7 million children in urban, suburban and rural communities participating. Its goal is to engage youth in hands-on learning activities through a number of clubs in a variety of areas of interest.
