Man charged in assault incident

A Tamaqua man was charged with domestic abuse following an incident at 134 1/2 Spruce St. on March 4.

Police were dispatched to the home at 4:42 p.m. and found Randy Carl Brown, 41, who appeared to be intoxicated. Brown was placed in the back of the police cruiser while officers interviewed the other occupants, a woman and her juvenile daughter.The woman said Brown had been drinking steadily and she had asked him to leave. That started an argument that turned physical when he grabbed her by the throat and started choking her. The juvenile witnessed this and began yelling for Brown to leave her mother alone. Brown then attempted to punch her. When that failed, he took the girl's computer and threw it to the ground.Brown was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, and making terroristic threats. He was arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley of Pottsville, who set bail at $30,000 percentage.
