March 26, 1974 Kurt Nissen's pinch-hit single in the bottom of the seventh inning drives in Mike Saltzer with the only run of the game and Northwestern pulls out a 1-0 win over Brandywine in its season opener. The Tigers, who were being no-hit, get a baserunner when Saltzer walks. Al Hill follows with Northwestern's first hit and Nissen delivers his grounder up the middle to end the contest.
