Former PV school superintendent named to interim post in Kingston

A former Panther Valley superintendent has been named the interim administrative director of the West Side Career and Technology Center in Kingston.

Dr. Robert Mauro, 71, of Macungie, was approved to the interim position on Monday during the career center's joint operating committee meeting.Mauro will be paid $350 a day on a day-to-day basis that won't exceed three days a week.The appointment is retroactive to March 6 and ends when a new administrative director is hired.Mauro formerly served as the administrative director at the Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe; as the superintendent of the Panther Valley School District; and as principal at both Parkland High School and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute.The interim position became available last month when administrative director Nancy Tkatch resigned after an internal probe discovered questionable charges on the center's credit card, the Citizens Voice reported.Kingston police are investigating and Tkatch maintains that she did not steal any funds.
