Schuylkill crashes probed

State police at Frackville reported investigating two crashes over the weekend on Schuylkill County roads.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, along SR61 in Blythe Township. Troopers said Robert J. Barlow, 32, of Ashland, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche southbound in an area known as "the grade" when the vehicle left the road while he atttempted to negotiate a sharp right curve.The Avalanche struck a large boulder along the west embankment with its front end, then went airborne for about 40 feet before colliding with a large tree with the front driver's side. The vehicle came to rest off the west berm down a small embankment facing south.A passenger, Leighann Pflueger, 46, of Pottsville, was flown from the scene by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of injuries. Barlow sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.Troopers cited Barlow for driving on roadways laned for traffic.Troopers investigated another one-vehicle crash about 6:04 p.m. Sunday, March 23, along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township. Troopers said Stacy E. Andrews, 36, of Annville, Lebanon County, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Passat southbound in the passing lane when she made an abrupt right turn to avoid a piece of flying road debris.Andrews lost control of the Passat and went onto the west berm where the vehicle struck several small trees before coming to rest about 40 feet off the road facing east.Andrews was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.
