March 21, 1972 Brenda Bowe wins a pair of events while Judy Becker and Nancy Daderko both set new records to help the Tamaqua girls swimming team open their season with a 58-19 win over Nanticoke. Bowe captures the 50-yard freestyle and the 50 breaststroke. Daderko sets a new Raider standard in winning the 50 backstroke while Becker establishes a new mark in the one-meter diviing. Other individual firsts for Tamaqua, coached by Jean Leisey, come from LouAnn DeWire in the 100 IM, Mary Haldeman in the 50 butterfly, and Judy Nortavage in the 100 freestyle.
