A Schuylkill County man has been jailed on a charge of aggravated assault and related counts after he allegedly attempted to stab a 30-year-old female. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday at 22 Judy Drive, in Cressona.

Troopers identified the suspect as Ravinder Singh Randhawa, 37. Troopers said he was arraigned by on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville on $100,000 straight cash bail.Troopers said in addition to attempting to stab the woman, he also slapped her several times in the face and grabbed her by the neck. She was able to flee the home to safety, troopers added.
