Injuries in Schuylkill County crashes

Injuries were reported in two crashes that occurred on Schuylkill County roadways.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 10 a.m. on Thursday along Route 443 in Wayne Township.Troopers said Courtney A. Tyler, 21, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2008 Toyota Scion westbound when the vehicle left the road on the north side and traveled about 15 feet before striking a utility pole.After impact the car continued along the berm for about 78 feet before veering sharply left, crossing over both lanes of travel, before entering the south berm, where it traveled about 36 feet up an embankment. The car then struck a tree and came to an immediate stop facing south.Troopers said the car traveled a total of 204 feet from the initial point of impact with the utility pole and final point of rest with the tree.Tyler was taken by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of injuries. Troopers said she was cited.A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday along Route 209 in Norwegian Township.Troopers said John J. Krzyston, 88, of the village of Muir, Schuylkill County, was driving a 2002 Subaru Outback northbound and stopped for a stop sign with the intersection of Route 901. He then pulled into the intersection to make a left turn onto 901 and did so in front of a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by Stacey M. Daubert, 38, of Pottsville.The front of the Corolla struck the driver's side of the Outback. After impact, the Outback spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing northeast, blocking the left lane.Krzyston and his passenger, Beth L. Krzyston, 85, sustained minor injuries. Daubert was injured and taken to the LVH.Troopers said Krzyston was cited for stop signs and yield signs.
