Woman charged with trespassing in store

A Lansford woman faces a charge of defiant trespass for being in a store where she had previously shoplifted and caused a disturbance.

Devon Shain, 25, of 1 W. Water St., was charged Feb. 12, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Jason A. Helmer with District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.Here's what happened, according to the court document:At about 8 p.m. Feb. 12, Helmer was sent to the Family Dollar store on West Patterson Street for an unwanted person in the store.Employee Paul Suzadail pointed out a woman whom Helmer identified as Shain. Suzadail said Shain was told twice not to come into the store because of her previous actions. Helmer spoke with store manager Nicole Diehl on the phone, and she confirmed the warnings.Helmer spoke with Shain, who was in the vestibule with her boyfriend, Joseph Gindhart, after making a purchase. Shain denied being told to stay away from the store.Suzadail checked store records and found documents that supported the warnings, one on July 16 and another on July 21.Helmer checked police records, and found that Shain had been charged with shoplifting from the store on July 16.
