Local police part of special program

The Tamaqua Police Department will be conducting a campaign to stop aggressive driving thanks to a grant from the Special Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project, which is administered by PennDOT.

From March 24 through May 4, the Tamaqua police, as well as 108 other departments throughout Pennsylvania, will be conducting special enforcement activities, targeting motorists exhibiting signs of aggressive driving behavior such as running red lights, speeding and tailgating. A second wave of enforcement activities will be held from July 7 through Aug. 31.PennDOT has earmarked a $2.5 million investment of federal funds, received from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, for the project.
