A Tamaqua man has been charged with assaulting the manager of a local establishment.

Tamaqua police were dispatched to Freddy's Pub, 16 Mauch Chunk St., at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, March 2, for a reported assault. On scene they spoke with the manager, who was putting ice on the left side of her mouth, which was bleeding heavily.The manager told police she had warned Brian Scott Parrish, 42, of 539 E. Elm St., about his aggressive behavior, asking him to leave several times. When she demanded he leave Parrish turned and punched her in the face, then left, walking north on Mauch Chunk Street.The victim went to St. Luke's University Hospital Miners Campus, Coaldale, in a privately owned vehicle. She was treated for a concussion and needed 10 stitches to close the cut to her mouth.Parrish was cited for simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
