A Schuylkill County driver escaped injury when her vehicle struck a deer on a county road. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred about 6:20 a.m. along Route 901, in Barry Township, on Tuesday, March 4.

Troopers said Kathleen J. Purcell, 56, of Coal Township, Northumberland County, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Accent eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of her.She attempted to avoid the animal but could not and struck it in the eastbound lane.The Accent had to be towed from the scene.
