State police at Fern Ridge reported the arrest of a Monroe County resident for retail theft and the investigation into another theft incident.

Troopers said Fernando Rey Ruiz III, 37, of Stroudsburg, was arrested on Saturday, March 1, at the Shop Rite store at the intersection of Route 209 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township.Troopers said Ruiz attempted to steal meat products valued at $65.19.Troopers are investigating a retail theft at the Dollar General Store located along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said a female suspect grabbed a handful of candy worth about $5 and fled the store without paying for it.The incident occurred about 12:41 p.m. on Feb. 7.
