Lacrosse is a team sport, similar to hockey but played with a small rubber ball and a long-shafted stick called a crosse or lacrosse stick. The ball is thrown, caught, and carried with a long-handled stick having a curved L-shaped or triangular frame at one end with a piece of shallow netting in the angle.

In boy's lacrosse, there are 10 players on the field and in girl's lacrosse there are 12.The boy's game is a contact sport and the girl's game limits stick contact and prohibits body contact.A game is about 60 minutes long played in 12 minutes quarters. It can be played on a standard football field."It is the fastest growing sport in the United States. It's a sport that anyone can play. It's a sport that is all about the team," says Rick Anglemyer, president of the Pleasant Valley Boy's Lacrosse Youth Association. "We'll have at least 20 boys and 20 girls ready to play on Pleasant Valley's Junior Varsity team in the spring of 2015."
