State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating an incident in which a vehicle struck a large tire and rim that was lying on the road. The incident occurred about 7:49 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, along SR61 in Norwegian Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Jordin A. Jarzinko, 19, of Girardville, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu northbound near Mill Creek Avenue, when her vehicle struck the tire and rim that was lying in the left lane of travel. After impact Jarzinko continued to drive north for about 50 feet before coming to a stop.Jarzinko and her passenger, Joseph A. Watkins, 20, of Mahanoy Plane, were not injured. Damages were moderate to the Malibu, which had to be towed from the scene.
