That's the theme of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Upper Lehigh County, which will be held at Northern Lehigh High School's Bulldog Community Stadium.The 2014 Community Relay Event will be held from 4 p.m. May 16 through 4 p.m. May 17 at the stadium, located at 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington.Relay For Life of Upper Lehigh County is a 24-hour community event which raises awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society to support cancer research and provide free programs and services to cancer survivors. It will consist of a Survivors Lap, Luminaria Ceremony and Fight Back Ceremony.The event is an organized, overnight community fundraising walk whereby teams of people camp out around a track while members of each team take turns walking around the track. It also features food, games and activities to provide entertainment and build camaraderie as part of a family-friendly environment for the entire community.Relay For Life is designed to involve the community in cancer education, increase awareness of the mission of the American Cancer Society and its advocacy efforts, and to learn about programs and services available to cancer patients, their caregivers and families.The first Relay For Life event was held in 1985 in Tacoma, Wash., by Dr. Gordy Klatt, and is the nation's largest 24-hour nonprofit walk event.For more information, or to register for Relay, visit
