EMMAUS Allentown Central Catholic swept the AA titles at the District 11 Diving Championships on Saturday at Emmaus High School.
Central Catholic's Nick Crouse won the boys gold medal with a score of 464.8. Tamaqua's Thorn Devlin finished fifth.Devlin faced tough competition on the boys side, especially when Crouse got off to a strong start, scoring a 35.70 on his first dive. Like Sagl, Crouse led wire-to-wire in the event. Devlin was fourth after his second dive, but found himself in a hole after four difficult dives in rounds three through six, including a failed dive on his fourth attempt. He finished with 254.15 points.On the girls side, Nicole Sagl, who is a Northwestern School District resident who attends Allentown Central Catholic, captured her third straight the District 11 championship. Sagl finished with a final score of 440.85, well ahead of second place finisher Erin Donnelly of Southern Lehigh High School.In Class AAA, Easton's Kelsey Jehl captured the girls championship and Parkland's Josh Anderson won the boys.The PIAA Diving Championships to be held March 12th and 13th at Bucknell University.
