February 24, 1953 Norm McLaughlin scores a game-high 21 points and Tamaqua hangs on to gain a 61-60 Black Diamond League victory over Summit Hill. McLaughlin scores six of his points during an 11-0 run late in the first half that gives the Blue Raiders the lead for good. Don Matalavage pours in 19 points and also collects numerous rebounds for the winners, coached by Eli Purnell, while Jim Ditzler chips in with nine points. For Summit Hill, who scored the final six points of the contest to make it close, Dick Davidyock tallies a team-high 16 points.
