Rex did not wrestle last week, as Northern Lehigh had completed its regular season the week prior. Neff picked up a forfeit win in Lehighton's match against Palmerton. Wehr suffered a 6-5 setback in his match against Wilson's Jared Corriere last week.113 - 1. Lenny Ogozalek, Panther Valley, Sr. (32-4); 2. Tanner McHugh, Tamaqua, Fr. (26-10); 3. (13-12).Notes - Ogozalek went 2-0 last week, picking up his third win over McHugh in less than a month, this time a 3-1 decision. Ogozalek also earned a dominant 8-0 major decision win against Pottsville's Richard Bentz the next day. The match against Ogozalek was McHugh's only contest of the week. Jacobi did not wrestle last week. Dengler returned to action for the Tigers after being sidelined for more than a month and picked up an 8-2 decision win over Wilson's Nick Antunez at 120 pounds. Lorenzo picked up a forfeit win in Lehighton's match against Palmerton a week ago.120 - 1. Zachary Kemmerer, Lehighton, So. (25-7); 2. Darren Goida, Panther Valley, So. (20-11); 3. Quentin Bernhard, Northwestern, So. (18-8).Honorable Mention - Kenny Yanovich, Pleasant Valley. Sr. (26-3); Austin Hemingway, Northern Lehigh, Fr. (12-11); Jonathan Klein, Pleasant Valley, Fr. (3-2).Notes - The complexion of this group changes rather dramatically with news of Yanovich's season ending early because of a shoulder injury suffered over two weeks ago in the New Oxford Invitational. The senior will conclude his scholastic career with a record of 138-27. Kemmerer moves from 113 pounds to 120 this week after picking up his second straight win at the weight a week ago, pinning Palmerton's Brandon Traugher in 4:54. Goida went 2-0 last week, earning a forfeit win against Tamaqua and a 5-3 decision victory over Pottsville's Nathan Cromyak. Bernhard dropped down to 113 pounds last week and grabbed a forfeit victory in Northwestern's match against Wilson. Klein joins the rankings after competing in his fifth match of the season last week against Northampton. Hemingway did not wrestle last week.126 - 1. Colin Mashack, Tamaqua, Sr. (24-2); 2. Matt Schmall, Northern Lehigh, So. (24-6); 3. Tegan Durishin, Lehighton, So. (19-11).Honorable Mention - Jarret White, Northwestern, So. (17-11); Anthony McCue, So. (16-12); Daniel Russo, Palmerton, Jr. (14-14).Notes - Mashack ended his regular season in dominant fashion, pinning Panther Valley's Colin Haydt in 21 seconds last week. Mashack enters this week's district tournament looking to defend his title from a year ago and advance to regionals. Schmall did not wrestle last week. Durishin got a forfeit win against Palmerton a week ago. White was also impressive in his regular season finale, earning a tech. fall over Wilson's Matt Russell. White, who advanced to regionals last year as a freshman, finished the season 2-2 in his last four matches. Russo went 1-1 last week, picking up a win against Lehighton's Kurtis Brownmiller. Russo's loss came against Bangor's Jesse Rocco in overtime. McCue did not wrestle last week.132 - 1. Dylan Rynkiewicz, Tamaqua, Jr. (30-3); 2. Ali Capobianco, Jim Thorpe, So. (27-8); 3. Ryan Farber, Northern Lehigh, Fr. (21-10).Notes - Rynkiewicz pinned Panther Valley's Jesse Thomas in a little over a minute last week. Six of Rynkiewicz's last seven wins by fall have come in the first period. Capobianco finished his regular season strong, going 2-0 last week with wins over Upper Dauphin's Evan Hoffman and Schuylkill Haven's Shay Mattern. Farber did not wrestle last week.138 - 1. Josh Evans, Palmerton, Sr. (26-1); 2. Garrett Gouger, Pleasant Valley, So. (19-12); 3. Hunter Davidyock, Panther Valley, Jr. (19-16).Honorable Mention - Andrew Ringler, Palmerton, Fr. (7-4); Kyle Morales, Jim Thorpe, Sr. (10-9); Josh Gornick, Lehighton, Jr. (13-12).Notes - Evans and Ringler did not wrestle for Palmerton last week. But even without wrestling a week ago, Evans heads into this weekend's district tournament with quite a bit of momentum and a great chance of advancing to regionals. After moving to 145 pounds last week, Gouger drops to 138 in this week's rankings after wrestling his second straight match at the weight. The sophomore picked up a win over Northampton's Zachary Rooks in his only match a week ago. Davidyock went 1-1 last week, earning a win over Tamaqua's Malik Roper before falling to Pottsville's Tyler Dieter in overtime the next night. Gornick and Morales did not wrestle last week.145 - 1. Antonio Madera, Jim Thorpe, Fr. (23-12); 2. CJ Young, Northern Lehigh, So. (18-10); 3. Anthony Farano, Lehighton, Sr. (15-13).Honorable Mention - Cole Moyer, Northwestern, So. (5-5).Notes - Madera went 2-0 last week after losing three straight and moves to the top of the rankings with Gouger's departure. The freshman picked up a tech. fall over Upper Dauphin's Alex Messner and a forfeit win against Schuylkill Haven. Farano picked up a forfeit win in Lehighton's match against Palmerton last week. Young and Moyer did not wrestle a week ago.152 - 1. Zack Christman, Palmerton, Jr. (23-5); 2. Zach Turner, Panther Valley, Jr. (10-10); 3. Adam Toth, Tamaqua, Sr. (17-17).Notes - After suffering an injury in the Falcon Invitational, Christman did not wrestle last week. Turner joins the rankings after going 2-0 a week ago, which included an 11-6 victory over Toth. Turner is 5-5 in his last 10 matches. The loss against Turner was Toth's only match a week ago.160 - 1. Zachary Graver, Palmerton, Jr. (21-1); 2. Nate Farber, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (22-7); 3. Brody Keefe, Pleasant Valley, So. (22-10).Honorable Mention - Tyler Cann, Lehighton, So. (22-9); Robbie Geisinger, Jim Thorpe, So. (19-16); Timothy Gergor, Palmerton, Jr. (3-2).Notes - After losing in the final of the Falcon Invitational, Graver bounced back in a big way last week. The junior picked up an impressive 20-4 (6:00) tech. fall win over Cann, and a dominant pin in 1:35 against Bangor's Brandon Tocket. After qualifying for states a year ago, there's little reason to believe Graver can't repeat the performance this season. Keefe picked up a 6-0 decision win over Northampton's Devon Turner, who is 10-17 this season, in his only match last week. Geisinger went 2-0 last week, picking up decision wins over Upper Dauphin's Clayton Kerwin and Schuylkill Haven's Trevyn Fessler.170 - 1. Austin Arnold, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (17-11); 2. Jared Mooney, Palmerton, Fr. (14-9); 3. Matt Buss, Panther Valley, Jr. (16-16).Honorable Mention - Kyle Oliphant, Tamaqua, So. (16-12).Notes - Arnold did not wrestle last week. After taking second in the Falcon Invitational, Mooney went 1-1 a week ago. The freshman was pinned by Lehighton's Dominik Mystkowski in his first match of the week, but rebounded nicely and picked up a 3-2 decision win against Bangor's Kaleb Happel the next night. Buss also went 1-1 last week. The junior suffered a loss to Tamaqua's Collin Moyer at 182 pounds then picked up a forfeit win against Pottsville the following night. Oliphant did not wrestle last week.182 - 1. Connor Frey, Lehighton, So. (26-5); 2. Collin Moyer, Tamaqua, So. (19-17); 3. Trent Thomas, Pleasant Valley, So. (17-16).Honorable Mention - Mathew Wolfe, Palmerton, Jr. (16-10); Dylan Moyer, Panther Valley, So. (14-11).Notes - Frey picked up a forfeit win in Lehighton's match against Palmerton last week. The sophomore finished the regular season on a five-match win streak and looks primed to make noise in the postseason. Thomas dropped a 7-2 decision to Northampton's Jason Kocher in his only match last week and enters the postseason on a four-match losing streak. Moyer finished the regular season strong, pinning Panther Valley's Matt Buss in the second period of his only match a week ago. Wolfe went 2-0 for the Bombers last week, pinning Lehighton's Logan Berger and picking up a forfeit win in Palmerton's match against Bangor. Dylan Moyer did not wrestle last week.195 - 1. Richard Nase, Panther Valley, Sr. (23-4); 2. Stephen Scheib, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (9-9).Notes - After losing to Blue Mountain's Zach Yackenchick, Nase went 2-0 last week, picking up both wins by forfeit. A regional qualifier a year ago, Nase will look to start his postseason off right with a strong showing in this weekend's district tournament. Scheib did not wrestle last week.220 - 1. Rian Shubeck, Panther Valley, Jr. (26-5); 2. Jason Schaffer, Northern Lehigh, Fr. (11-11).Notes - Shubeck went 2-0 last week. The junior earned a forfeit win in Panther Valley's match against Tamaqua and a tech. fall victory over Pottsville's Charles Geiger. Like Nase, Shubeck was a regional qualifier last season and enters districts with his sights set on making an even deeper postseason run this year. Schaffer did not wrestle last week.285 - 1. Ahmad Curtis, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (15-6); 2. Cameron Kates, Northern Lehigh, So. (20-12); 3. Lukas Mika, Panther Valley, So. (16-12).Honorable Mention - Alex Raub, Palmerton, Sr. (9-6).Notes - Curtis pinned Northampton's Alex Darbaris in his only match a week ago. Tracking the junior's progress in his first postseason will certainly be worth watching. Mika earned a forfeit victory in Panther Valley's match against Tamaqua and did not wrestle in the Panthers' contest against Pottsville. Kates and Raub did not wrestle last week.
