If Plan A doesn't work, go to Plan B

Sara and Frank Karnish,Summit Hill

John Steinbeck wrote, "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray," and that was definitely the case for my poor husband Frank's idea for his proposal. In 2012 we went on a cruise to Bermuda and New England, with two whole days in Bermuda. On the second day (Sunday), we decided to check out one of the beaches because many places there close on Sundays. While we were at the beach it started to rain, but we stuck it out for a few hours. Little did I know that Frank had planned to propose on the beautiful pink sand beach, but Plan A was called off due to rain. That night after dinner we took a walk around the ship. Frank suggested we go to the top deck, and I said, "Sure." Once again, plans changed when we saw the sign: "Top deck closed due to hurricane-force winds." Again, little did I know that, once again, his Plan B for the proposal on the bow of the ship, sort of like something out of the movie Titanic was called off due to rain.We walked around the ship a little more, then finally stopped on one of the lower decks just to look out at the water. The moon was full, the sky was clear and full of stars, and I looked down and Frank had a ring box in his hand! He just said simply, "Will you marry me?" Once I got over the shock, I said "Yes!"So maybe his plan changed twice, but when it finally happened it was still pretty perfect. We were married on March 15, 2013 at sunset on the beach in Pensacola, Florida. And the weather was beautiful!
