One injured in head-on crash

One person was flown to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a head-on crash that occurred about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, along SR443, near Shady Lane, in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gabriel M. Zweizig, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2009 Toyota Tundra pickup truck eastbound while Sandra L. Jamison, 25, of Schuylkill Haven, was westbound operating a Jeep Grand Cherokee.Troopers said Zweizig crossed into the opposing lane of travel and into the path of Jamison and the collision occurred.After impact the Tundra traveled across the westbound lane and struck an embankment with its front coming to rest facing northwest and blocking the westbound lane. After impact the Cherokee traveled north where its right rear struck an embankment along the westbound lane, where it came to rest facing west.Jamison was flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.Zweizig and a passenger with Jamison, a 2-year-old male from Schuylkill Haven, were not injured.Damages were termed heavy to both vehicles.Troopers also reported investigating a two -vehicle crash about 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, along SR901 in North Manheim Township, near Glenworth Road.Troopers said Dominic C. Puglia, 37, of Gordon, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta westbound when he lost control on the snow-covered roadway. His vehicle began to spin in a counter-clockwise direction and crossed into the eastbound lane.Joanne F. Hafer, 55, of Pine Grove, driving a 2006 Dodge Ram truck, was eastbound and attempted to avoid a collision by swerving to the right. She was unsuccessful with the front of the truck striking the passenger side door area of the Jetta.No one was injured. Troopers said Puglia was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un)safe speed.
