Palmerton police test rules set

Palmerton should soon have a new set of rules and regulations in place to attract potential police officer candidates.

The borough's Civil Service Commission on Tuesday agreed to send the updated rules and regulations for testing requirements to borough council, and to ask for a list of applicants to sit for the entry level police test.Council will consider the action when it meets at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.Borough Manager Rodger Danielson said, "We're going with the rules and regulations as originally presented by our (labor consultant) solicitor."The commission met several weeks ago, at which time Danielson said the rules and regulations were redone by the borough's labor consultant, reviewed, and brought up to state standards.Danielson previously said that last fall, council had asked for a list of potential candidates for its police department. The police department isn't looking to add any officers at this point in time, he said.Danielson noted that the new borough code stipulates that there may be three alternates for the commission.Anyone interested in becoming an alternate on the commission may contact the borough at 610-826-2505.
