Man wanted in Franklin Twp. ATM robbery on Saturday

Franklin Township Police are searching for a man who attempted a robbery at the ATM at the Franklin Township branch of Wells Fargo Bank at 145 Interchange Road in Franklin Township. The ATM is open 24 hours a day.

Thomas Beltz, police chief, said that the male victim was at the ATM at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, when another man approached him from the rear.The victim, who police said is from Lehighton, said that the man said he had a weapon, but police have reported that following an interview with the victim that no weapon was seen.The robber did not get any money, said police.Franklin Township, Lehighton and Mahoning Township police surrounded the area Saturday night and are still on the lookout today.Police have described the man as white, 6 feet tall with a thin build.He was wearing a black and white bandanna around his face, a gray hoodie and baggie blue jeans.The man ran behind the bank and disappeared from view.Beltz said that police will be viewing surveillance camera footage today.
