Animal response team looking for sponsors

The Carbon and Schuylkill Animal Response Teams are looking for sponsors for their second annual Hogs N Horses motorcycle ride this fall.

The ride benefits both teams, which are comprised of volunteers, as they work toward purchasing large animal equipment that can be used during emergencies and rescues. No details on date and time of the ride have been announced.Michele Beckett, co-chairperson of the Carbon CART fundraising committee, explained that planning for the ride is under way and the groups hope to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of the equipment.Sponsor levels begin at $100 and continue until $1,500.Any business interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Beckett at

deeja@ptd.net.In addition, the groups are holding a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feb. 25, at Maggie's Kitchen, Route 443, Tamaqua. Eat in or take out.The CART team has been in existence since 2007 and has helped out during a number of emergency situations involving animals over the last few years.Some of the goals of CART are to decrease the threat to humans and animals, prevent and decrease the spread of diseases, and minimize the economic impact of animal emergencies.The next Carbon CART meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight, at the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency, located off Route 93 on top of the Broad Mountain in Nesquehoning.Volunteers are always needed and welcome.
