Jim Thorpe man recognized with Gold Coin of Excellence

James Redline of Jim Thorpe was recently recognized for his accomplishments at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

Maj. Gen. John Wharton, commanding general, Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., was in Kuwait mid-December to check on 402nd Army Field Support Brigade personnel and receive a command update.Wharton visited 402nd AFSB members commanded by Col. James Kinkade on Dec. 13.During his visit, Wharton discussed the future of ASC, upcoming changes, and answered questions from attending staff.ASC supports United States and coalition forces around the world. The 402nd AFSB is one of seven AFSBs under ASC, which are located around the world.During his visit, Wharton recognized Redline, who is an informational systems analyst and a member of the "Power Team" and presented him with a Gold Coin of Excellence.Gold Coin of Excellence recognizes outstanding acts performed in the course of duty.Redline is the son of Kathleen A. Smith and the late James D Redline. He attended Jim Thorpe Senior High and Carbon County Vocational Technical School.Redline entered the United States Air Force in August 2000, serving four years and then worked as a defense contractor from April 2008 and March 2010. Since March 2010, he has worked as a project manager assisting with new construction and modernization of hardware/software configuration.Redline works as part of a team or independently in conducting business process re-engineering reviews, which includes feasibility studies and trade-off analyses, these reviews/studies are completed to determine the most effective/efficient way to proceed with proposed automation projects.As part of his duties, he consults with information management customers to identify and specify requirements for new or enhanced automated systems while ensuring the integration and compatibility of all systems (current and proposed) with the common operating environment (COE).Redline also assists in the development of cost estimates and preparation of business case studies, which defines systems' scope and objectives. He identifies and defines business or technical requirements to be applied to the design, development, implementation, management and support of systems and analyzes effectiveness of existing operational systems to detect areas requiring improvement. Redline also confers with management personnel in assigned areas on potential or requested uses of data processing systems.He also serves as a liaison between Informational management, public works and the Army Corps of Engineers to ensure all aspects of information infrastructure is properly planned and executed within a given design and build.Redline has provided technical expertise and testing for hardware and software systems, supporting the mission and functions of information technology.Redline's fiancé is Vanessa M. Schafer. He also has four children, Mason, Annabella, J.J., and Madeleine.
