Take a break from the winter by coming to the Winter Carnival this weekend.

Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, 2440 Fairyland Road, Franklin Township, will host this annual event from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. Snow date is Jan. 19.Put on your dancing shoes or just come to listen to James Hummel Band from 5 to 9 p.m.The kitchen will be open with a variety of food and there will be games, bingo, Chinese auction, cartoon portraits and bake sale. The admission is free.Funds raised at the event will pay overhead to run the fire department and to help pay for the newest fire truck, a KME Tanker. The new truck cost $266,000 and that there are two loans on it.
