Tamaqua woman, daughter cited

A Tamaqua woman and her daughter were both cited by police following an incident on Jan. 8.

Police were called to 307 Arlington St., Tamaqua, at 11 a.m. for a reported domestic incident. On scene they spoke with Anna Marie Funk, 47, who had scratches on her neck and blood running down her face. She said she had been attacked by her daughter, Alyssa Shellhamer, 23, after the daughter took issue with something Funk was saying on the phone.When Shellhamer knocked the phone from her hand the mother and daughter began to physically fight, scratching and punching each other. Both women had scratches on their necks. Funk also had bloody knuckles and her daughter had a swollen left eye.The women were arrested and arraigned before District Judge Steven Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges related to domestic violence. The judge released the women on unsecured bail.Funk was then evicted from her daughter's home.
