Coaldale borough council expects to meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 and Jan. 20 to again consider its 2014 budget. The meeting will be held at borough hall, 221 Third St.

Council at a Jan. 7 reorganization meeting voted to reopen the spending plan. Currently, the budget keeps the property tax rate at 25.040 mills, the same as last year.That means the owner of a home assessed for taxes at $25,000 would pay $626 in borough property tax.The millage breaks down to 21.540 mills for the general fund; 2 mills for the light fund; 1 mill for the fire fund and 0.5 mill for the pension fund.
