Financial aid night at Weatherly HS

Weatherly High School will host a free Financial Aid Night at 6 p.m. Monday Jan. 27, in the high school cafeteria.

District high school seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend this informative session to get a better understanding of the student aid process and how to begin planning to fund their higher education.Linda Pacewicz, a student aid expert from Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, and Rita Moran, Academic Specialist at Educational Opportunity Centers, will be available to provide information and answer questions.Parents and students will learn what they need to do to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is required to qualify for most student aid programs, such as the Pennsylvania State Grant, Federal Pell Grant, institutional awards and low-cost federal student and parent loans.Participants will also be briefed on Pennsylvania-specific aid programs as well as the importance of searching out free money awards like scholarships to help pay for education costs.Families with questions about the free Financial Aid Night should contact Weatherly High School guidance counselor Paul Michael Miller at 570-427-8521, ext. 5020.
