Organization wants to open emergency homeless shelter

Aggie Shehadeh, founder of Peaceful Knights, is on a mission to help the homeless adults in Carbon County find permanent shelter.

Peaceful Knights assists qualified single adult homeless individuals with shelter, food, clothing and referral services. To qualify, clients must agree to work or look for work 30 hours a week and volunteer 10 hours a week until they become employed.Peaceful Knights is a Christian based organization and weekly church attendance is mandatory.Shehadeh believes in her clients.Because many of the shelters now have waiting lists, she is hoping that people who are interested in helping to set up an emergency shelter "The Manger Mission" in the Carbon County area would attend a planning meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St. Bowmanstown."This is just an open planning meeting to see if anyone is interested in opening an emergency shelter and to see if is feasible at this time," said Shehadeh. For additional information, call Shehadeh at 610-379-3524 or 610-393-2536.
