A smoky and raging fire, that began shortly before 4:30 p.m. yesterday in Lehighton, could be seen for miles, according to Franklin Township firefighters, who assisted the Lehighton and Mahoning fire departments in combating the outbreak.

When firefighters arrived, the small bungalow at the rear of 136 N. First St. (North East Alley) where Tracey Everett had previously lived was a ball of flames with sparks shooting off wires and popping sounds heard coming from the building's interior.
