Two Schuylkill fires probed

State police reported investigating two structure fires at two separate Schuylkill County locations.

A fire occurred at 114 Raricks Road in North Union Township, about 6:01 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30. The metal and concrete two-story barn was destroyed. Due to the amount of fire and heat the cause of the fire is undetermined. The property is owned by Connie Lou Epinger, of Walnutport, and occupied by Debra Lee Brookfield and Kevin Edward Hughes, troopers said. No injuries were reported.The second fire occurred along S. Grant Street in Shenandoah. The fire was first reported at 9:52 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The fire spread to adjoining properties before it was extinguished by firefighters from Shenandoah and several surrounding communities. Damages were reported at 112, 113, 114 and 116 S. Grant.Troopers said the fire started in the basement of 112 S. Grant and was accidental in nature.Fire Marshal Trooper Thomas J. Finn investigated both fires.
