(through Mar. 2)

(bout minimum: 5)

106 - 1. Kevan Gentile, Jim Thorpe, So. (36-8); 2. Colton Rex, Northern Lehigh, So. (22-11); 3. Baily Wehr, Northwestern, Fr. (15-14).

Honorable Mention - Ezra Neff, Lehighton, Fr. (18-10).

Notes - Gentile posted a 2-3 mark at the Class AA Southeast Regional tournament over the weekend en route to a sixth place finish. The sophomore started strong, picking up wins in his first two matches by fall to advance to the semifinals. But Gentile's next opponents were the trio that finished ahead of him at the District 11 championships. Gentile lost by fall to district champ Sammy Hepler of Tri-Valley in the semis; dropped a 9-7 decision to Williams Valley's William Girard in his third round consolation match; then lost to district runner-up Jake Riegel of Bethlehem Catholic in his fifth-place bout. While no doubt disappointed with the final outcome, the strides Gentile made this year should have him primed for a big season as a junior. Rex, Wehr and Neff did not wrestle.

113 - 1. Lenny Ogozalek, Panther Valley, Sr. (41-6); 2. Quentin Bernhard, Northwestern, So. (25-13); 3. Zachary Kemmerer, Lehighton, So. (27-10).

Honorable Mention - Tanner McHugh, Tamaqua, Fr. (30-12); Antonio Lorenzo, Fr. (13-12); Ryan Dengler, Northwestern, Fr. (11-4).

Notes - Ogozalek went 5-1 at the regional tournament, placing third and qualifying for this weekend's PIAA State Championships. The senior won his opening match, but dropped an 11-1 major decision to Upper Dauphin's Coy Campbell in the quarterfinals, resulting in a move to the consolation bracket. Ogozalek made the most of the opportunity, winning three straight matches to advance to the third-place bout against Campbell. Healthy and confident, Ogozalek turned the tables on Campbell, posting a solid 6-3 decision win. Bernhard also won his opening match and lost in the quarterfinals. The sophomore won his first two matches in the consolation bracket with a chance to advance to the third place bout, but lost to Campbell. The setback sent Bernhard to the fifth-place match where he faced Trinity's Chase Drawbaugh, who defeated him in the quarters. After dropping a 4-3 decision in their first meeting, Drawbaugh once again got the best of Bernhard, this time picking up a 4-2 win to advance to states. Like Gentile, the progress Bernhard made as a sophomore should give a young Northwestern program hope heading into next year. Kemmerer, McHugh, Lorenzo and Dengler did not wrestle.

120 - 1. Tegan Durishin, Lehighton, So. (22-13); 2. Darren Goida, Panther Valley, So. (22-14); 3. Jarret White, Northwstern, So. (19-12).

Honorable Mention - Anthony McCue, Pleasant Valley, So. (17-14); Austin Hemingway, Northern Lehigh, Fr.(12-11); Jonathan Klein, Pleasant Valley, Fr. (3-2); Kenny Yanovich, Pleasant Valley, Sr. (26-3).

Notes - Durishin, Goida, White, McCue, Hemingway, Klein and Yanovich did not wrestle.

126 - 1. Colin Mashack, Tamaqua, Sr. (31-5); 2. Matt Schmall, Northern Lehigh, So. (28-8); 3. Jason Jacobi, Pleasant Valley, So. (20-13).

Honorable Mention - Daniel Russo, Palmerton, Jr. (17-17).

Notes - Mashack won his first two matches to advance to the semifinals, setting up a rematch with Pius X's Dante Albanese, who defeated him in last week's district semis. Once again, Albanese got the better of Mashack, scoring late to claim a 2-1 decision victory. Masahck earned a win in his first consolation match against Nate Newberry of Biglerville to advance to the third place bout against District 3 runner-up Grant Bond of Boiling Springs. Mashack came out strong and took an early lead heading into the second period. But as the match moved on, a calf injury took its toll on the senior, forcing him to forfeit at the three-minute mark. Despite the injury and the loss, Mashack's fourth-place finish was good enough to advance to Hershey, where he hopes to be healthy and finish his high school career on a high note. Schmall, Jacobi and Russo did not wrestle.

132 - 1. Dylan Rynkiewicz, Tamaqua, Jr. (35-6); 2. Ali Capobianco, Jim Thorpe, So. (32-10).

Notes - Rynkiewicz lost his opening match in the regional tournament, but bounced back with a win in his first round consolation bout against Hamburg's Chris Kummerer. The victory setup a rematch with Catasauqua's Jacob Rusnock, whom he defeated in last week's third place contest at the district tournament. This time, Rusnock came out on top, posting a 4-2 decision win to end Rynkiewicz's tournament and season. The junior will certainly have a lot to look forward to next season after posting a 35-win campaign this year. Capobianco did not wrestle.

138 - 1. Josh Evans, Palmerton, Sr. (33-2); 2. Ryan Farber, Northern Lehigh, Fr. (25-12); 3. Garrett Gouger, Pleasant Valley, So. (21-15).

Honorable Mention - Hunter Davidyock, Panther Valley, Jr. (20-17); Andrew Ringler, Palmerton, Fr. (7-4); Kyle Morales, Jim Thorpe, Sr. (10-9); Josh Gornick, Lehighton, Jr. (13-12).

Notes - A district runner-up a week ago, Evans showed he's capable of winning in a variety of ways en route to a regional championship. The senior won his opening bout by a 7-5 decision, a contest that served as a wake-up call heading into the quarterfinals, where he posted a 17-1 (3:02) technical fall over District 1 champ Nicholas Forman. Evans again won a close match in the semifinals, defeating District 3 titlist Jeffrey Inman by a 2-1 decision. For the second straight weeks, Evans went up against Bethlehem Catholic's Mike Labriola in the finals. After losing an early lead in the district championship match a week earlier, Evans turned the tables on the freshman, scoring a late takedown to earn a 5-4 decision win. Heading into his second appearance in Hershey, there's no doubt Evans has as much momentum as anyone in the field. Farber, Gouger, Davidyock, Ringler, Morales and Gornick did not wrestle.

145 - 1. Anthony Farano, Lehighton, Sr. (18-16); 2. CJ Young, Northern Lehigh, So. (20-12); 3. Antonio Madera, Jim Thorpe, Fr. (26-14).

Honorable Mention - Cole Moyer, Northwestern, So. (5-5).

Notes - Farano, Young, Madera and Moyer did not wrestle.

152 - 1. Nathan Farber, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (26-9); 2. Tyler Cann, Lehighton, So. (23-11); 3. Zachary Glassic, Panther Valley, Jr. (3-2).

Honorable Mention - Zack Christman, Palmerton, Jr. (23-5).

Notes - Farber moves to the top of the group because of Christman's injury late in the season that kept him out of the district tournament. Farber, Cann and Glassic did not qualify for regionals.

160 - 1. Brody Keefe, Pleasant Valley, So. (29-14); 2. Zachary Graver, Palmerton, Jr. (26-4); 3. Austin Arnold, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (20-14).

Honorable Mention - Robbie Geisinger, Jim Thorpe, So. (22-19); Matt Buss, Panther Valley, Jr. (18-18); Timothy Gergor, Palmerton, Jr. (3-2).

Notes - Keefe moves ahead of Graver after his impressive showing at the Class AAA regional tournament over the weekend. The sophomore opened with a convincing 8-0 major decision win over West Scranton's Kyle Kroptavich, then followed that with a spectacular overtime pin of District 4 champion Jamall Powell of Northeast, who was undefeated entering the tournament. Keefe was pinned by District 2 champ Cody Cordes of Wyoming Valley West in the semifinals. Keefe's tournament ended with a 4-2 overtime loss to Kazim Bakhriyev in the third round consolation match. Graver, a state qualifier a year ago, lost his opening match against Wyomissing Jarred Hardinger by a 5-4 decision. The junior was able to secure a 6-3 decision win over Northern Lebanon's Evan Daub in his first round consolation match, but came up short against Delone Catholic's Josh Sneeringer in his next bout. Both Graver and Keefe will be back next year and should benefit greatly from the postseason experience. Arnold, Geisinger, Buss and Gergor did not wrestle.

170 - 1. Jared Mooney, Palmerton, Fr. (15-11); 2. Kyle Oliphant, Tamaqua, So. (16-12).

Notes - Mooney and Oliphant did not wrestle last week.

182 - 1. Connor Frey, Lehighton, So. (34-8); 2. Collin Moyer, Tamaqua, So. (21-19); 3. Mathew Wolfe, Palmerton, Jr. (17-12).

Honorable Mention - Dylan Moyer, Panther Valley, So. (14-11).

Notes - Frey went 4-2 over the weekend, finishing fourth and securing a trip to Hershey. The sophomore, who was also a regional qualifier last season, opened the tournament with a solid 8-1 decision over Boiling Springs' Nate Gouhin. Frey ran into undefeated and eventual regional champion Stephen Loiseau in the quarterfinals, losing by technical fall. But Frey battled through the consolation bracket, winning three straight matches to advance to the third place match, where he dropped a 7-3 decision to Hamburg's Cody Miller. Having gained even more postseason experience, look for Frey to make some noise this weekend. Collin Moyer, Dylan Moyer and Mathew Wolfe did not wrestle.

195 - 1. Richard Nase, Panther Valley, Sr. (31-7); 2. Stephen Scheib, Northern Lehigh, Jr. (9-9).

Notes - Like Frey, Nase also went 4-2 in the regional tournament, finishing fourth and advancing to the PIAA State Championships. The senior posted a dominant 12-1 major decision win against Littlestown's Matt Guilday in his opening match, but lost to eventual champion Tristan Sponseller of Bermudian Springs in the quarterfinals. Nase earned two quick pins in his first two consolation matches to setup a rematch with Catasauqua's Rhaine Sziy, who defeated him in last week's district tournament. Nase avenged the loss, pulling out a 2-1 decision win to move on to the third place match against North Schuylkill's Alek Hummel, where he was pinned in the first period. Scheib did not wrestle last week.

220 - 1. Rian Shubeck, Panther Valley, Jr. (33-8).

Notes - After competing in last year's regional tournament at less than 100%, Shubeck returned fully healthy this season and finished fourth to move on to Hershey. The junior won his first match, but dropped his quarterfinal bout against Sam McCollum of Bermudian Springs in overtime. Shubeck picked up three consecutive wins in the consolation bracket to setup a rematch with McCollum in the third-place contest. Unfortunately, the result was the same, a 3-2 decision loss, except this one ended in regulation.

285 - 1. Ahmad Curtis, Pleasant Valley, Jr. (21-10); 2. Cameron Kates, Northern Lehigh, So. (21-14); 3. Lukas Mika, Panther Valley, So. (17-14).

Honorable Mention - Alex Raub, Palmerton, Sr. (9-6).

Notes - Curtis lost his opening match in the Class 3A regional tournament to George Washington's Stephane Eugene by a 2-1 decision, but was able to pick up a win in his first round consolation bout, earning a 13-5 major decision victory over Wallenpaupack's Kenny Roman. The junior's run ended in his next match, as he suffered a loss by fall to West Scranton's Kamron Van Wert. All in all, a third place finish in last week's district tournament and a trip to regionals isn't too bad for a wrestler the was on the junior varsity squad last season.
