Cesar Aponte-Ortiz, 24, of Lake Harmony, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 4:29 p.m. Dec. 24 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township. State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said the accident happened when the roads were snow-covered and snow was falling.

Police said Aponte-Ortiz was driving a 1999 Kia Sportage westbound when it veered off the roadway, spun and struck a tree in the median with the center of its rear end.Police said he will be cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
