A study of the proposed Jim Thorpe bypass to cover traffic on combined routes 209, 45, and 29 is included in the list of 41 District 5 State Highway Department's work project for the next six years.

The work will be financed through a $980 million borrowing plan that won state Senate's final legislative approval last week.Listed as top priority job on the slate is the widening of Route 209 from Lehighton to the Mahoning Valley Interchange of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from two to four lanes.
