Road closed for 16 hours after crash

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said SR209 in Monroe County was closed for 16 hours after a one-vehicle crash at 9:44 p.m. Dec. 8.

The accident happened in Chestnuthill Township, west of Frable Road.Police said Marc A. Garcia, 19, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze southbound when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross over the double yellow line and enter the northbound lane. Police said the car went off the left side of the roadway, striking a utility pole located on the east side.Police said the pole was cut in half, causing utility lines to fall on the roadway. The car came to rest facing in a southwestern direction in a parking lot. It sustained disabling damages to its front bumper and hood area, police said.No injuries were reported. Police said Garcia will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.The car was towed from the scene while the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the West End Fire Company and Frontier Communications all responded to the scene.
