Police find man asleep near tracks

Tamaqua police were clearing an alarm call at 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 when a passing motorist stopped to report a man down near the railroad tracks on Spruce Street.

When officers arrived they found Jeremy Bryan Ronco, 33, of 33 Hunter St., Tamaqua, soundly sleeping on the roadway, near the entrance to Sewage Treatment Plant Road.Ronco was unresponsive to Cpl. Dwayne Hacker's attempts to wake him but didn't appear to have any injuries. Hacker asked for EMS to be dispatched.When Tamaqua Community Ambulance personnel arrived, they too tried to wake the sleeping man, who had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.When they were finally able to rouse him he refused to go to the hospital. He was transported to his home where family members were cautioned to call for help if he had any further problems.Ronco was cited for public drunkenness.
