Prothonotary's report

A total of 278 cases were started in November in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of the cases is as follows:Assessment appeals, 2; civil actions, 27; custody complaints, 16; district justice appeals, 6; divorce complaints, 14; declaratory judgment, 1; complaints in ejectment, 3; declaratory judgment, 1; license appeals, 6; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 24; partition petition, 1; protection from abuse petitions, 15; quiet title actions, 4; tax sales, 2; judgments, 148; miscellaneous cases, 2; paternity suit, 1; stipulations/waivers of liens, 4; and writ of execution, 1. The office staff also received and processed 37 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows $30,394.91 was generated last month as follows: prothonotary's fees, $24,933.77 interest income $9.29; custody fees; $750; and data processing charges, $4,701.85.The prothonotary also remitted $3,030.53 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $72 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996. Another $1,305.78 was deposited in the Prothonotary's Automation Fund for future use in automating the office.
