A Scranton resident died in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred about 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

State police at Frackville said Jeffrey Delguercio, 51, of Dickson City, Lackawanna County, was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer northbound when he veered to the left toward the guide rail. Delguercio then steered to the right to avoid striking the guide rail, causing the Explorer to cross both lanes of travel and strike the guide rail on the east side of the road. Upon impact the Explorer flipped onto its passenger side and came to rest.A front seat passenger, Garfield Beynon, 71, of Scranton, was pronounced dead at the scene by a county deputy coroner.Delguercio and three male juvenile passengers in second row of seats, were injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville, for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
