Crashes probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes investigated by troopers recently.

A two-vehicle crash was reported about 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 26 along SR534, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.Troopers said a 17-year-old female juvenile from Albrightsville, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt southbound and negotiating a left curve when her vehicle spun out and struck the guide rail on the right shoulder. After impact the car continued to spin and entered the northbound lane where the rear end struck a 2008 GMC Savana operated by Jose J. Roca-Morel, 49, of New Brunswick, N.J. Both vehicles came to rest at the point of impact.Both drivers were injured and taken to the Lehighton hospital for treatment. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.Troopers investigated a crash at 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 30 along SR209 in front of the KFC restaurant in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 2005 Suzuki Forenza operated by Jasmine A. Sinclair, 18, of Saylorsburg, struck the rear of a 2012 Kia Optima driven by Anthony N. Michalek, of Greenville, N.Y., as the two were northbound. No injuries were reported. Sinclair was cited for a learner's permit violation.Troopers said Arisleida Laantigua, 31, of Paterson, N.J., was westbound on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, about 1:42 p.m. in the right lane when her 2007 Toyota Tundra began to slide and spun counter-clockwise, then crashed into a ditch along the south berm.A passenger, Carmen Bonilla, 55, of Paterson, sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.Another crash occurred along I-80 in Tobyhanna Township about 2:20 p.m. on Nov. 26. Julie M. Henik, 24, of Pine Hill, N.J., was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer westbound at the on-ramp to SR115, when she lost control while negotiating a right curve on the icy road. The Explorer slid off the road and crashed into the guide rail. Henik was not injured but the Explorer had to be towed from the scene.
