Palmerton cheerleaders to appear in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

From small town Palmerton to the big screen.

That's essentially the quantum leap a pair of Palmerton Area High School cheerleaders are prepared to make when they participate in the 87th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.Seniors Taylor Williams and Arissa Snyder will perform in the three-hour event, which will be televised nationally at 9 a.m. Thursday on NBC.Taylor, who has been cheering for 13 years, said she is anxious to participate in the once-in-a-lifetime event."It's fun making new friends," Taylor said. "And because we get to represent Palmerton; because we're not really recognized."Taylor urged television viewers to "Watch us on TV."Arissa, who has been cheering for seven years, said she, too, can hardly wait."It's really fun," Arissa said. "It's such an honor to be here, and it's great to meet new people from all over the country."Arissa added that her primary goal is, "Just to perform and make sure Palmerton's known."The two girls were chosen to join a group of more than 650 cheerleaders and dance team members invited by Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), Universal Dance Association (UDA), National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA).
