A Schuylkill County woman has been cited for cruelty to animals following an incident that was reported on Monday, Nov. 18.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers responded to 501 Drehersville Road, in Deer Lake borough, about 9 a.m. to a report of an abandoned dog. On scene troopers found a dog had been left without water and in squalid conditions to include the animal being forced to live within an area covered with fecal matter inside the residence. Troopers also said the dog appeared not to be receiving adequate veterinary care.The dog was seized and placed in the care of the Hillside SPCA.Cited for the incident was Beverly Baver, 59, of Orwigsburg, troopers said.
