Tamaqua stop leads to arrest

A New York man faces charges following a vehicle stop in Tamaqua on Nov. 14.

Kenneth L. Dodson, 34, of 30 N. Rose Lane, West Berlin, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on SR309, in the vicinity of Owl Creek Road, at 1:19 p.m. The vehicle was clocked at 62 miles-per-hour in a 45 zone. While the officer spoke with the driver, Dodson reached under the back seat and appeared to be extremely nervous.Due to the behavior of Dodson and the other occupants officers requested permission to search the vehicle. As it was a rental unit officers contacted Enterprise Car Rental in Reading and received permission to search the car.A small glassine baggie was found. The material inside field tested positive for methamphetamine. Dodson also had a prescription bottle containing dextroamphetamine and the antidepressant Sertraline. The prescription was not in Dodson's name.He was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance.
